Will Robots Replace all Workers?

We’ve all heard how robots are replacing the American workforce. And it’s true that to some extent robots have proven to be quality employees capable of highly-technical and precisely repeatable work. And most pundits fall on either extreme: one camp claims that robots will one day take over the entire world of work, while another believes the current balance of robots and human labor has reached a successful equilibrium and it will continue to trend similar for the foreseeable future.

It’s easy to see why there is so much concern over the development and usage of automation. There are stores in the world run entirely by robots: customers enter the building and are greeted by robots; they then speak about the products with the robots, all of whom can understand the complexities of human language to be able to communicate simply but succinctly; and, once the customer has chosen a product for purchase they pay the robots for their goods. This may sound strange, but businesses run entirely by robots are not a viable alternative in the foreseeable albeit near-sighted future. However, in factories the robot workforce has proven to be successful and tends to be the prominent employee. In industrial labor-type jobs, for every robot put into commission, statistics claim that that one robot takes the job of 3-4 humans. However, this does not take into consideration the humans who then have to program the robots, or those who monitor the programs that power the robots.
